James Blake asks to remove his name from the credits of Kanye West’s “Bully”

The British producer James Blake has asked to remove his name from the album credits “Bully” of Kanye West. The reason is clear, he considers that the final version “is not what I created.”

The album was released on March 27 after a streaming premiere. In it, Blake appears credited in “This One Here,” alongside Don Toliver. However, the producer assures that the final result is far from his original idea. As he explains, there are still traces of his work. They are perceived in the vocal treatment and in part of the structure. Still, he insists that the essence has completely changed.

Blake emphasizes that there is no personal conflict. Your decision is professional. He does not want to appear in projects in which he has not been able to influence the final result or assume credits that do not correspond to him.

The relationship between the two goes back a long way. Kanye West already showed admiration for Blake in the era “Yeezus”. They also worked together on material that was never published. The launch of “Bully” It arrived already involved in controversy. Even so, it marks the return of Kanye West on a large scale, with new concerts and international dates, including one in Madrid that has also generated controversy over the treatment of ticket prices.
