Marinita Precaria, the project of the Madrid-based singer and songwriter from Córdoba Marina Gómez Marín, has returned with the launch of a new single, which begins her stage of collaborations with different producers. ‘Conmovedor’ includes the title track, as well as ‘Fiestas’ and ‘La Nieve’, and the three songs have been produced together with Frenchman Cristophe Vaillant (Paul Weller’s collaborator). Elefant is behind this release.
In ‘Conmovedor’, the author of ‘Un vas de agua’ (2024) delivers one of her most retro compositions using northern soul rhythms and keyboards. Staccato piano and orchestral strings round out a production that sounds as pink as its cover. Pipettes may come to mind when listening to it.
‘Touching’ describes an intimate, almost obsessive relationship between two people. It is a telepathic relationship, of two identities that merge. Marinita anticipates the other’s thoughts, keeps “all her things” in her room, and sings “what’s not around you no longer matters to me,” suggesting that the world beyond that person does not interest her.
Marinita is aware of her possible obsession (“I don’t know if it’s moving or I’m crazy”) and her desire to transform it into art (“I’m going to tell your life in any song).” And, at the end, she finishes the piece with a beautiful metaphor: “I want to sew a magnet on my clothes.” In the fantasy of ‘Conmovedor’, Marinita and her love are literally inseparable.
‘Touching’ oscillates between tenderness and obsession, exploring the way in which two lovers live their love until they erase their own personal limits.
