Ice Spice denies using Ozempic, the latest weight loss trick

Ice Spice is the latest celebrity to deny using Ozempic, the trendy Hollywood weight loss drug. She is not the only one, as in recent months a multitude of artists and celebrities have denied or confirmed the use of the drug, turning it into a kind of modern witch hunt.

“I wish you would have never learned the word Ozempic,” Ice Spice began on Espacios de X before denying the Ozempic rumors. “It’s called the gym, it’s called eating healthy, it’s called being on tour. I mean, what the fuck? Maybe if I was sitting at home all day it would be easier to stay big,” said the rapper, who recently released her debut album.

“Oh my God! What is Ozempic? What the fuck is that? Seriously, what is it?” Spice asked during her appearance on X. As El País described it, Ozempic is the “Holy Grail of diets.” It is injectable and costs around 130 euros a month. It was originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, but it has also proven effective in the fight against obesity. Or, in the case of Hollywood, to lose a few extra kilos.

It all started when Kim Kardashian appeared at the 2022 Met Gala wearing Marilyn Monroe’s tight dress, apparently after losing seven kilos in less than three weeks. Since then, the drug has gone viral. Oprah Winfrey, Rebel Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg are some of the personalities who have promoted its use. Other celebrities have suffered serious headaches from it.

Kelly Clarkson denied using it a few months ago, while Christina Aguilera, Adele and Lana del Rey have been in the paparazzi’s eye and have claimed not to be under the effects of Ozempic, although they have lost some weight recently. Other celebrities, such as Bella Thorne, have made clear the side effects of the normalisation of Ozempic in society: “I haven’t felt good about my body in a while, especially with the use of Ozempic in Hollywood,” she declared on Instagram.
