Grimes defends Selena Gomez against X’s “body shaming”

Selena Gomez’s new single is already on platforms. ‘In The Dark’ came out last Friday along with a video clip in which Selena Gomez returns to her role as a popstar and which, in the last few hours, has received a series of hurtful comments on social media. Grimes has not remained silent and has come out to defend Gomez: “Try to imagine the mental strength she supposedly has.”

Grimes has chosen a specific comment to respond, which is also one of the most humiliating: “How is it that in South Korea any woman with $5,000 can receive a ‘hotification’ surgery without problems but in the United States you have millionaire celebrities who have the operation with a 50/50 chance that they will come out looking like the monster of the week from The X-Files?”, can be read in X.

“I’ve been on the Internet for 48 hours and despite some minor benefits I still have to go again,” the Canadian songwriter begins. She claims that she has seen the video and that “apart from some scenes that people have made clips of to misrepresent what she looks like” she describes Selena as “one of the most beautiful girls”: “Imagine how it must feel for people to talk about you like this,” she continues.

Grimes describes the content of the tweet as “high school bullying” and says that accounts should be suspended “en masse” for “body shaming,” especially because “it’s not even true if you actually watch the video.” Finally, the artist describes X as “harmful” and as “death of culture” the fact that this “behavior is socially acceptable.”
