Doechii has released the ‘Anxiety’ video clip, its current success, which is on its way to becoming the greatest hit of his career. In a matter of hours it will break the barrier of the 200 million views on Spotify. In official lists, ‘Anxiety’ remains strong in the United Kingdom (4), Australia (11) or the United States (15).
‘Anxiety’, as everyone knows, is the official version of an old Freestyle of Doechii that sampled the base of ‘Holybody That I used to know’, the success of 2011 by Gotye and Kimbra. Today we name her song of the day.
‘Anxiety’ explores the ways in which anxiety manifests in the life of Doechii. Although the rapper does not stop generating money and that his life is a “wet dream”, he continues to feel that anxiety paralyzes it. It is as if “an elephant put on him” and not let her breathe.
How has Doechii reactivate the success of ‘Sombody That I used to know’? Without a doubt, the instrumental base of that success – which in turn sampled the piece of 1967 ‘Seville’ by Luiz Bonfá – is still fresh in the popular imaginary. However, ‘Anxiety’ balances melody and rap brilliantly, managing to be a great song on his own.
The ‘Anxiety’ video clip is full of symbolism: recurring anxiety, fears, fires and, of course, the wink forced to the ‘Holybody that i used to know’ video clip and the old direct of Doechii singing ‘Anxiety’ in his room.
