Ganges bursts into heavenly trance by ‘Fotolog Nostalgia’

Ganges, Teresa Gutiérrez’s electronic pop project, releases its new album this week, ‘SORA’. It is the first one released on vinyl.

The album has been presented with singles such as ‘A key ring’ and with titles as striking as ‘Maybe we broke up and I haven’t found out’. The focus track is ‘Techno triste’, which could also be the title of ‘Fotolog Nostalgia’, a lost track that we choose as Song of the Day today.

The song begins on piano and soon descends into a crazy trance that never leaves its heavenly air. Every time production seems to regress, it goes and explodes once again. Moby, Faithless and Fred again… could be among her references, although she prefers to talk about Shygirl or Sega Bodega.

‘Fotolog Nostalgia’ is a memory of habits that have already fallen into disuse, some as common as the Nintendo stuffed in a bag, the Sims or the Powerpuff Girls, and others more rare like “uploading texts to Fotolog and photos to Tuenti.”

Ganges approaches those times with the nostalgia of the title or the phrase “I’m starting to forget a little about everything even if I don’t want to.” But also with the awareness that all those online friends have disappeared. From the maturity that the text boasts because “nothing is so important anymore”: “I don’t want to forget all of you, the many friends there were in the world… although I only loved a few.”

Ganges performs on November 23 in Seville as part of Alhambra Monkey Week 2024 and on November 30 in Murcia, at the Sala Ciclogenesis. It has also just been selected as AIEnRuta 2025.
