Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga surprised us this Friday by releasing a joint single, ‘Die with a Smile’. While people debate online and offline whether ‘Die with a Smile’ is an instant classic or a bore – it seems there is no middle ground – the song is gaining ground in the charts, where it continues to rise days after its release.
‘Die with a Smile’ has just climbed to number 3 on Spotify’s global chart, clocking nearly 6 million daily streams three days after its release. On Spotify, globally, ‘Die with a Smile’ started at number 10, then climbed to number 7, and is now climbing to number 3. In other words, it’s marking a new peak every day. And what’s left?
In specific countries, ‘Die with a Smile’ climbs to number 4 in the United States and number 25 in the United Kingdom. In Spain, it is fighting to enter the top 100 and is at number 102. Its peak – on Spotify – is number 2 in New Zealand. In the United States, ‘Die with a Smile’ is number 1 on Apple Music, a platform that is almost as popular as Spotify.
On the official charts, predictions place the debut of ‘Die with a Smile’ at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number 7 in the United Kingdom, confirms UK Official Charts, thanks to the sum of streaming, physical sales and downloads, although, in terms of physical edition, it must be said that Universal Music has only put CD-singles on sale, not vinyl or cassette tapes… for now.
With ‘Die with a Smile’, Bruno Mars stops living off his income and Lady Gaga paves the way for the announcement of her next album, which is almost finished. Both have sung it live for the second time in Inglewood, California, dancing close to each other during the instrumental bridge.
