Fines of 800,000 euros to the promoters of shows at the Bernabéu

The Madrid City Council has sent sanctions with fines for noise to the promoters of some of the concerts that were held at the Bernabéu this year. According to the newspaper El País, there are 11 fines ranging from 17,000 to 280,000 euros. Together, they add up to 801,000 euros.

The most “gracious” have been Taylor Swift’s concerts. One of Taylor’s shows has received a fine of 142,000 euros and the other, 146,000. Manu Carrasco has a fine of 125,000 euros. Duki, 129,000 euros for the day of rehearsals, and 148,000 for the concert itself. El País does not specify if Karol G’s 4 shows are on the list; only that 16 concerts have been held and 11 fines have been sent.

The sanctions come from the municipal Environment area for non-compliance with noise regulations. They are based on what, since 2011, has been the Ordinance for Protection against Noise and Thermal Pollution. According to this, 58 decibels cannot be exceeded from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

One of the promoters consulted by El País points out that this is a “disproportionate” figure and said source complains: “We are also unable to know the sanction criteria.” The affected promoters have contacted each other to appeal jointly.

The news is a new setback for the holding of concerts at the Real Madrid stadium. Recently, the Bernabéu has been closed to face new insulation works, at least until March. Aitana, Lola Indigo and Dellafuente are among the artists who have had to postpone their concerts. A report in El Diario a few weeks ago doubted that the problem had been resolved at all in March.
