Pauline en la Playa, the duo of sisters Alicia and Mar Álvarez so loved for songs such as ‘Titubeas’, ‘My bathtub’ or ‘The world is going to end’, has set a date for their eighth studio album, ‘Los Días longs’, which will go on sale next November 8.
‘I Could Be John Wayne’, the first preview of ‘The Long Days’, presents a sound in keeping with its title, inspired by American country and the soundtracks of Westerns. A decided Tex-Mex tone emanates from the guitars, while the vocal melody and the sisters’ harmonies retain their usual comforting character.
From that comfort is also born the story of ‘I Could Be John Wayne’, which finds Pauline on the beach watching the stars, lying on the grass, imagining stars colliding with the planet. They couldn’t be more comfortable, and they themselves recognize it in the chorus, where they repeat the mantra: “Everything is fine, I repeat to myself: everything is fine.”
Although the sisters sing that they would be able to “bend iron” and “walk on glass,” they prioritize peace. They sing that “everything will be fine” as long as there is ground to walk on, a seed to plant, a wind to lift their skirts. The happiness of small things.
‘The Long Days’ will be Pauline’s first album on the beach since 2019: so much time has passed since her last release, ‘The Jump’.
