Eurovision will prevent artists from exhibiting pride flags

Eurovision 2025 will only allow artists to already bring the flag of their respective countries to any event related to the contest, according to the med media. This means that pride flags or those in solidarity with other countries, such as Palestine or Ukraine, will not be allowed.

According to Eurovision policies regarding the flags, the contestants may not exhibit any type of flag other than that of their country during the initial ceremony of the contest, on the main stage or in the common room.

During the flag parade that opens each ceremony, participants can only carry “a flag provided by the SSR SSR”, the Swiss station that broadcasts the event. Otherwise, the URU says that there will be “consequences”, although these are not specified.

In the statement of the UU, the organization ensures that its objective was to achieve “a balance that ensures that both the audience and the participants can express their enthusiast and identity, and that at the same time more clarity is created for the delegations regarding official events.” The UER expects delegations to take the Banderas’ policy “with good faith.”

This rule comes a year after Nemo, winner of the 2024 edition, had to strain the non -binary flag in the Malmö stadium. On the other hand, Iceland has publicly opposed Israel’s participation in the new edition of the contest, joining the cause begun by Spain and Slovenia.
