Dua Lipa has denied having fired his manager for his Pro-Israel position. The news had appeared in several media, the origin being an alleged filtration to the Daily Mail tabloid.
The news said that Dua Lipa had fired his manager of the last eight years, David Levy, after the appearance of his name in a letter addressed to Glastonbury – private, but filtered to the media – in which the withdrawal of the Irish band of Kneecap rap of the British festival was requested for its activism in favor of Palestine and alleged anti -Semitism. According to this information, Dua Lipa continued to be represented by the WME agency (William Morris Endeavor), only now with a new agent.
Dua Lipa has said that it will always be “free Palestine,” but has accused Daily Mail to lie: “I do not approve the actions of David Levy or other musical executives towards an artist who tells his truth. But I can’t ignore how this has been handled in the press. Not only the story was completely false, but the language used by the Daily Mail was deliberately provocative, created with the sole purpose of generating clickbait, clearly designed to foster online division ».
He concludes: «Always, free Palestine. But exploiting a world tragedy to sell newspapers is something that I find deeply worrying.
Glastonbury did not cancel the Kneecap concert in July, which was held as planned. The police investigated the complaints, but did not see crime evidence and closed the case. Kneecap described the investigation as an attempt to “political intimidation.”
Since May, one of the three members of the group, rapper Mo Chara, faces a position related to “terrorism” for allegedly shown the Hezbollah flag during a concert. This case has caused Kneecap’s veto in Canada for having made “statements contrary to the country’s values.” Kneecap had planned to perform a series of concerts in Toronto and Vancouver that have been canceled.
