The influence of ‘Not Like Us’, the “diss track” that Kendrick Lamar dedicated to Drake, has not been resolved, it can still give more of itself. And now it is thanks to Drake himself, who has thought of filing a complaint against Universal and Spotify in a Manhattan court, with this song as the object.
The Canadian accuses Universal of charging a reduced license to Spotify in exchange for this platform recommending ‘Not Like Us’ to users, even though they had searched for unrelated artists and songs. He also accuses them of paying influencers to promote the song on social networks, and of hiring bots to fraudulently increase the streams of the song.
Drake previously tried to reach an agreement with Universal, which is also his distributor, as it owns Republic Records, but according to his story, Universal tried to hide the irregularity, and even fired employees loyal to Drake.
As Billboard reports, Universal has denied the accusation. “The suggestion that Universal would do anything to undermine one of their artists is offensive and false. We employ the strictest ethical practices in marketing and promotional campaigns. “No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this preview can obscure the fact that fans choose the music they want to listen to.”
