Djo, between LCD Soundsystem and irony in ‘Basic Being Basic’

After the overwhelming success of ‘End of Beginning’, thanks to its viralization on Tik Tok, Djo is prepared to release his new album. Judging by the two advances available, everything indicates that the successor of ‘decides’ will be up to the immense hype that Joe Keery carries behind him. Luckily, he takes it with humor. ‘Basic Being Basic’ is the song of the day.

Djo presents ‘The Crux’, available on April 4, with the ironic ‘Basic Being Basic’, in which the American singer and actor is taken out of the manga a critique of superficiality and materialism. At the same time, he describes the type of connections he is looking for: “I want simple pleasures, friends who cover my back.”

With a spoken delivery, to the LCD Soundsystem, and an electronic and static base, to the LCD Soundsystem, Djo lists some behaviors that he considers as a “basic” person, such as “take photos of your dish” or have “the cinematographic taste of Tarantino.”

The American also takes the opportunity to take his post viral stage with humor and call “basic” people who ask for another ‘end of Beginning’: “You asked about it, here is, a quick example because you wanted the hits / I think you are afraid of being basic.”

The second single, although it is radically different from ‘Basic Being Basic’, is also a pleasant surprise. With a much more refined retro aesthetic than in the previous album, ‘Delte already’ is a heartbreak funk that also includes a curious reference to ‘Stranger Things’: “I call Charlie and we turn to the children”, referring to actor Charlie Heaton and the main cast of the series.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbxrmezcnjahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ayjjqemhwo
