COBRAH serves “good pussy” at carnival

COBRAH’s concert in Barcelona coincides with its carnival party. This means that a good part of the audience comes to the Razzmatazz room in costume. So many people arrive dressed as Mario Bros. that for a moment I wonder if I’m in the wrong place. But no, everything is in order.

COBRAH, who took his first steps in music performing in BDSM clubs, became known internationally thanks to the power of rapped electro-house singles like ‘Good Puss’ or ‘Brand New Bitch’. His sound is icy but highly sensual: COBRAH dominates the electro beats that come his way, and not the other way around, in songs that in a few minutes capture all the self-esteem in the world.

The “fun and sweaty” show that COBRAH promises in an interview recently granted to this medium is exactly that. COBRAH only needs herself (and her blonde wig) to provoke screams from the audience when 2:30 in the morning passes. The artist, who presents her new EP, ‘Succubus’, uses pre-recorded recordings, but no one seems to care or should care when the Swede dances with overwhelming confidence and takes over the stage.

The audience comes with their homework done and shouts the lyrics of ‘FEMININE ENERGY’ or ‘TEQUILA’ while COBRAH shakes his hips, shakes his shoulders, walks to either end of the stage, spreads his legs or performs a series of “hairflips” that will guarantee you an iron neck. The live performance falters at some points due to the homogeneity of all the songs, but the aggressiveness of the base maintains the rhythm and spirit at all times, as demonstrated by a cry of “whore boss” that is heard between songs.

In specific moments of the COBRAH show there is a curious contrast between the animal she is on stage, and the charming girl she is also when interacting with the audience. When she greets the audience with an extended “hiii,” accompanied by a smile from ear to ear, in your head you translate it as “holiii.” That is also the “feminine energy” of COBRAH, although when the base prevails, the beast returns. COBRAH is all of us, too.

COBRAH knows perfectly well what it’s like to deal with a different audience. Before dedicating herself to the profession of pop star, she taught music classes to children by day, and performed in fetish clubs at night. Today she has the repertoire to put together an entertaining one-hour show, although ‘Good Puss’ remains the star single, to the point that she plays it twice to close the show. With the final ‘BANG’ of confetti, the COBRAH show and the carnival day merge into one.
