The Pamplona collective Chill Mafia publish “Agur and ohore, here goes the farewell” and presents a tour that will pass through Gasteiz, Logroño, Rentería, Iruña, Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona.
After three years of experience, Chill Mafia will end their adventure with a tour that will visit various parts of the peninsula. This adventure reached many of us for the first time with “Gazte arruntaren koplak”, their unique and extraordinary version of the classic by Xabier Lete. The Navarrese group later left us classics such as “31014”, “Barkhatu” or “No se k me pasa”, which together with their concerts, did not leave anyone indifferent. Their particular combination of rap, electronic music, trap and Basque folk was a breath of fresh air on the scene, creating a large fan base.
They are closing the stage with the publication of “Agur eta ohore x allá va la despedida”, a nine-track mixtape in which they once again show their interest in exploring new musical territories, and their undeniable talent for making urban rhythms and folklore join hands and provide the perfect shelter for their provocative lyrics and unique slang. The mixtape includes nine tracks such as “Merezi Ote”, a contemporary version of Gontzal Mendibil’s emblematic song, which in some way closes the circle, as they say goodbye in almost the same way as they burst onto the music scene. Originally released in the 80s, if anything characterizes “Merezi Ote”, it is its evocative lyrics and its deep connection with the Basque cultural identity. Chill Mafia has reimagined it by fusing its characteristic style with the original, thus creating a version that respects its poetic essence while adapting it to a modern aesthetic. The mixtape also features the collaboration of Albacete-based Nerve Agent, who bring a unique energy to the track “Hombre Clavo”. Among these new tracks, we also find the already well-known ‘Puta Ripagaña’, the chaotic and fun explosion in the form of a mix of fandango, jotas and electronic music with which they returned after a year of creative silence, and “Mus Corrido”, their already legendary story of heartbreak to the rhythm of popular Mexican music. This compilation of songs is completed with another five previously unreleased songs, one of them “Ídolo caído”, a revision of the Brigada Criminal classic that takes on a new life marked by intense breaks at an explosive rhythm.
The tour will begin on October 31st at the Jimmy Jazz venue in Gasteiz, and will continue on November 1st in Logroño, at La Fundición, both concerts with the collaboration of another of the most acclaimed urban bands of the moment, Nerve Agent. On November 16th they will be at the Lekuona venue in Rentería. Their neighbours in Iruña already have Christmas plans, and on December 25th, the most rogue gang in the city will say goodbye at the Zentral. The year will start in Bilbao on January 3rd at Kafe Antzokia, and on February 26th it will be the turn of the emblematic Madrid venue La Riviera. Later on, the day and place where they will say goodbye in Barcelona will be announced. Tickets will be on sale tomorrow Thursday 19/09 at 10:00 in the morning.
Although Chill Mafia’s time as a collective is coming to an end, its members will continue to develop their promising solo careers. Some of the most well-known faces of the collective, such as Ben Yart either Kilikiare already working on the steps of their respective projects.
