Charlie Benante (Anthrax) attacks streaming

Charlie Benantethe drummer Anthrax and other formations like the current ones Pantherhas shared his opinion on streaming within the music industry and why Spotify is to blame for music ending up dying.

Benanterecently spoke with The Irish Timeswhere they asked him about the music industry in the last forty years. To the question, the drummer responded “There is no music industry. That’s what has changed. There is nothing else. There are people who listen to music, but they are not listening to music the way it was heard before.”

The drummer continued to expand his speech by commenting that the streaming music industry has been one of the worst things ever invented, and that no one has done anything about it, they just let it pass. “It’s like you pay Amazon $12.99 a month and you can go to Amazon and get whatever you want. It’s basically stealing. It’s stealing from the artist, from the people who run music streaming sites like Spotify. Like this , Charlie Benante also joins Lars Ulrich in his criticism of streaming platforms.

At the end of May, the co-founder of Spotify Daniel Eckcommented instead that it is now easier and more affordable than ever to create “content” thanks to modern technology “Today, with the cost of creating content being close to zero, people can share an incredible amount of content.”
