The endless roll-out of ‘The Giver’ culminates today, finally, with the launch of the new Single of Chappell Roan, only the second single of Roan in a year: yes, (almost) a year ago since the world heard ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ for the first time.
Roan premiered ‘The Giver’ live last November at Saturday Night Live. Since then, Roan has not tired of promoting the launch of the song, revealing images in which he represents different professions linked to lesbian culture, such as the lawyer or the workers.
The message of ‘The Giver’ and his chorus “I take care” has been linked to the behavior of the Service Top, that type of dominant people who seek first of all the pleasure of their lover. Roan sings to “get natural” and that she only likes to “give” and that the other “receives.”
‘The Giver’, of course, is a song very different from ‘Good Luck, Babe!’: Roan changes the Synth-pop rhythms for the fiddle and marked a country theme without concessions of any kind, but also very light, fun and camp: he goes as a ring to his finger.
Despite the sound of ‘The Giver’, Roan has confirmed that his next album will not abandon pop at all, nor the style of his debut ‘The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess’ (2023).
