Chappell Roan has shared in an interview with The Guardian that she has recently been diagnosed with “severe depression,” following her meteoric rise to fame. Over the past few months, the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer has been open about her relationship with fans and their “strange” and “predatory” behavior.
In conversation with The Guardian, Roan said she was diagnosed with depression after “going to a psychiatrist last week because I didn’t know what was going on.” “He diagnosed me with severe depression, which I didn’t think I had because I’m not sad, but I have all the symptoms of someone who is seriously depressed,” she said. These include a “very dull outlook.”
She herself attributes this to the fact that “my whole life” has changed: “Everything I love to do now comes with a burden”: “If I want to go shopping, I have to hire security and get used to the idea that this is not going to be normal,” she explained. The same goes for “going to the park” or “pilates.”
Roan also talks about what happens to him “every time I leave the house”: “I can’t help it, I just start crying and get angry at myself for choosing this path or I lament how the curiosity I had about the world has been taken away from me in some way,” he revealed.
