Carole King, one of the most influential authors of all time, especially for her multi-platinum album ‘Tapestry’ from the early 70s, has been kind enough to participate tonight in an event called Swifties for Kamala.
While waiting for Taylor Swift to publicly announce her vote in the upcoming US presidential election, some of her fans have decided to organize this event in support of Kamala Harris on YouTube, with thousands of supporters. Among the most surprising was Carole King, who came on at minute 28 of the broadcast to share her views.
Carole King has spoken about the importance of being an activist and getting involved politically. She recalled that she has been able to greet Taylor Swift on occasion, as well as Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, and finally she broke into a fragment of ‘Shake It Off’.
The artist, who introduces herself as “swiftie,” recalled that Taylor Swift previously sang her hit ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, specifically at her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, so she understands that this is a return of a favor. But what is more important is the message she has given to encourage people to participate in the campaign.
King said: “I’ve been a political activist for years. I’ve knocked on doors even though I was a famous person. I’m telling you all this because if any of you are thinking about volunteering to knock on doors or make phone calls, but you’re a little nervous about what people might say, trust me, you’re going to an organizer who will give you steps. Don’t be afraid, because there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. There’s too much at stake.”
