Caribou breaks your heart again… dancing

This Monday, Caribou released a new single that represents a new breakthrough in their career. 'Broke My Heart' follows a previous song called 'Honey' and is our Song of the Day for today.

This is how Dan Snaith explains this new composition, which did NOT come to him by divine grace during a dream, as they say: «I always have a hard time believing those “it occurred to me in a dream” stories about songs that arrive fully formed… but this one He came pretty close to that, which is not how it usually happens to me. I sat down at the piano one day and the string riff was right there at my fingertips and the vocal melody followed right behind. “I wish they all happened like this.”

What is certain is that 'Broke My Heart' is one of those absolutely immediate Caribou productions, this time without even reaching 3 minutes in length. We are used to many of their productions actually “breaking our hearts”, but in this case it is a totally euphoric, almost trance-like single. The pitch of the voices also contributes to the good mood, as much as a house-style chorus. The humming adds up to what is one of his most pop compositions.

There is no announced Caribou album, but we know that 'Broke My Heart' and 'Honey' are part of the same project because they are associated on streaming platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify. Yes, there is an announced Caribou tour, with a lot of dates in North America (also Japan or Amsterdam), and next year, in Europe. Details on their website.
