The fifteenth edition of BIME Bilbao will be held at the Euskalduna Palace in the capital of Biscay between October 29 and November 1. And we already have a first batch of confirmed names, as well as details of this event marked in red on the busy agenda of the industry.
Through presentations, workshops and debates, prominent figures such as Scott CohenCEO of JKVX, and the musicians Albert Pla, Maria Jose Llergo and Fermin Muguruza -which will celebrate forty years of career-, have been confirmed as part of the BIME Pro programme. They will deal in depth with the key challenges facing the industry: from “Glocalisation” to Artificial Intelligence, ticketing and the festival boom, among other hot topics that generate many questions.
BIME The forum returns to Bilbao after its successful edition in Bogotá last May. The theme of this new edition of the forum will be “Territories”, a concept that will allow us to explore opportunities, trends and challenges related to “Glocalization”, or the growing adaptation of global products and strategies to local markets and cultures. A reality that, as could not be otherwise, also affects popular music in all its dimensions.
A significant presence of professionals, artists, institutions, brands and agents from the music ecosystem is expected. The Ibero-American sphere and the bridges built on both sides of the Atlantic will continue to be a fundamental axis, but there will be a strong presence of professionals and artists from other countries such as Germany, Canada, Hungary, France and the Netherlands.
Among the confirmed voices to rethink the future of the industry at BIME Pro, there will be, in addition to those mentioned, Alexandra Lioutikoff, President of LATAM and US Latin at Universal Music Publishing, creative and founding partner of Alegre Roca Toni Segarra, Andreas Katsambas, President of Chartmetric, DJ and marketing expert Elijah, and Tamsi MacLarty, writer and founder of Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC).
One of the most important topics will be the state of live music, with a focus on the evolution and management of festivals, large venues and halls. But there will be many more: from the complexity of digital distribution to the internationalisation of artists in a globalised world, or the synergy between music and brands, as well as entrepreneurship, innovation and training within the industry. Not to mention legal challenges, the preservation of local traditions, equality, the environment and mental health. BIME continues to promote a positive impact of music on the environment, society and the cultural ecosystem.
The programming of showcases within BIME Live The event will be expanded with training activities and events related to other artistic disciplines such as literature, photography and audiovisuals. The agenda will run from 24 October to 2 November in various locations in Bilbao. In addition, the first edition of BIME Luthier Show will take place and the XXII International Record Fair will be included. All of this promises to turn the city into the epicentre of music during those days.
