Beyoncé appeals to daughters and grandmothers at her rally with Kamala Harris

As confirmed this week, Beyoncé appeared at Kamala Harris’ rally this Friday in Houston, Texas. Along with Beyoncé, her mother, Tina Knowles, and country musician Willie Nelson were at the event. Texas is a Republican stronghold and, with the appearance of Beyoncé, Kamala is appealing to the young vote.

The artist has declared: «I am not here as a celebrity, I am not here as a politician. I am here as a mother. A mother who cares deeply about the world our children will inhabit. A world in which we have the freedom to control our bodies. A world in which we are not divided. Our past, our present, our future, come together here. Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what is possible without limitations. Imagine what our grandmothers are feeling right now… their sacrifices, to be able to see the leadership of a woman.”

At other points in his rally he recalled the importance of everyone’s vote: “Texas has a very important role in changing things (…) It is time for America to sing a new song of dignity and opportunities.”

In 2016, Beyoncé performed ‘Formation’ live at Hillary Clinton’s rally. Kamala Harris already had the support of Beyoncé in this candidacy, since ‘Freedom’ is the official song of her presidential campaign.

Of course, Beyoncé is born in Texas and Willie Nelson is featured on her latest album, ‘Cowboy Carter’: it’s all at home.
