Although he is still remembered nostalgically for being part of Suede, Bernard Butler He already has a solid solo career that he will review in Four Spanish concerts later this month.
We will be able to see him in La Coruña, Madrid, Zaragoza and BarcelonaYou will find the exact dates and venues below these lines.
Bernard Butler’s recording career is divided into two stages, one with his first two solo albums, another with his return twenty-five years later with “Good Grief”his first album in a long time. In between he devoted himself to various things, both being a musician for great artists (Pet Shop Boys, Bryan Ferry, Roy Orbison, Bert Jansch, The Libertines, Neneh Cherry, Robert Plant, Ben Watt) as to produce another long list of names (The Libertines, Tricky, Black Kids, Kate Nash, James Morrison, Texas, Mark Eitzel, Duffy).
But this tour will have as its main theme to review his solo career, including the material from this recent album. “Good Grief”On returning to solo work, Butler explains, “For a long period of time I was scared and scarred. I was happily distracted and involved with a lot of music. I realized that just being there was more than I had ever expected. I gave a lot to other people, but I realized that my story was defined by who I was, rather than who I am. I set myself a modest, creative, business goal: perform in front of ten people and then find eleven the next night. So my own shyness began to disappear. I wrote how I thought and sang how I wrote until the ideas came flying. And so the songs came.”
We will be able to see Butler in La Coruña (Sunday 30 September, Festival Noites do Porto, Sala Mardi Grass), Madrid (Tuesday 1 October, Café Berlín), Zaragoza (Wednesday 2 October, Las Armas; 25th Anniversary of La Lata de Bombillas) and Barcelona (Friday 4 October, Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius; Festival Mil·lenni).
