Enough are back and they do it with “Shinji”, a single as dreamy as it is violent, designed for those who live in constant fear of having their hearts broken.
The Galician band but now based in Seville presents a single between daydreaming and the emotional violence that anticipates “New Black Magic Vol. 01”his next job. With an overwhelming sound that refers to the neopsychedelia of Tame Impala or Temples, the song also comes with a team of guarantees: it was recorded in La Mina, produced by Luca Petricca and mastered at Alamo Shock by Guille Mostaza. The song comes to the character Shinji Ikariprotagonist of anime and manga Neon Genesis Evangelionwhich also inspired a Viva Belgrade song.
Shinji It is the first and suggestive preview of “New Black Magic Vol. 01”the band’s next LP. A job for which, according to themselves, they have sold their souls, in a metaphorical and also literal sense. Originally titled “Vampires,” the song has an autobiographical background. Quite a bit, in fact, they place it in the time when they lived in Paris, back in the 18th century. With a Casio and a fuzz marking the emotional pulse of the song, the result moves between the dreamy and the wild, ideal for those who are moved by that cry of “Shinji” while trying to protect themselves from sentimental disaster.
The launch comes accompanied by a video clip that reflects the innocence and fantasy of childhood, moving between film and dream, between fable and memory. The cover of Shinji It is the work of the painter and illustrator from Cádiz. Cristina Geneiro (PURELINE) and the illustration for “New Black Magic Vol. 01” of Alberto Santos (Ash Projects), a renowned Galician artist and graffiti artist who has exhibited all over the world. As always with Basanta, their music and covers connect stories.
