Ana Mena and Emilia are :( but they make you :)

On the one hand, Ana Mena, a pop star to whom we owe two of the biggest pop hits made in Spain in recent years, ‘Madrid City’ and ‘Las 12’. On the other, Emilia, simply put, an Argentine superstar who has recently been the creator of global hits such as ‘La Original’ and ‘No se ve’.

Together, Ana Mena and Emilia today release their second joint single, ‘Carita triste’. Both had already collaborated on ‘El chisme’ with Nio Garcia, but ‘Carita triste’ unites them two and no one else.

‘Carita triste’ is a sister song to ‘Las 12’ and ‘Madrid City’; the trance piano taken from Robert Miles’ playbook is once again present in this production by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, producers of those other two hits by Ana Mena.

However, this time the chorus of ‘Carita triste’ is not just an instrumental drop, as was the case with ‘Madrid City’ and ‘Las 12’, but it is taken over by Ana Mena and Emilia, who express their lovesickness over a pure dance-pop base: they go around “painting sad faces” and warn that “yesterday I cried but you didn’t see me.” A great chorus written to be sung at the top of your lungs wherever it is played.

In the video for ‘Carita triste’, filmed in a castle, Ana Mena and Emilia avenge having been betrayed by ruining a marriage proposal. She directs The Panda Bear Show, which has nothing to do with the artist Panda Bear.
