AulagadelPolvorín It is the new sound trip to which the Grancanaria saxophonist invites us Alba Gil Aceytunoadvance of your solo project LawsuitDisco that will be edited by the Lanzarote label Malpaís Records.
Alba Gil Aceytuno (Gran Canaria, 1997), saxophonist and composer who has been part of bands such as Aguayro, Arube, Rupatrupe and Zumurrudit opens its most personal project, Lawsuitwith an album where the artist continues to experiment with the sounds offered by the instrument. The advance single is AulagadelPolvorínin which he collaborates to the voice Bethlehem A. Doreste, LAJALADAand serves as a presentation card for this new project. The homonymous debut of Lawsuit It will include seven compositions that will fly and mutate free for different styles. “Put is acoustic, it has folk, root things, pop, some jazz because there is a pair of totally improvised solos and some experimental music because it takes the saxophone to a less conventional terrain at harmonic level”he says.
The foundations of the project are in arpegios and circular respiration, a technique that uses “To be playing the saxo all the time, as if it were the arpegging of a keyboard or a synthesizer that can be playing without stopping to breathe. A great inspiration to work this technique has been the Canadian saxophonist Colin Stetson”he explains.
Although it is a relatively young project in its professional transit, for Alba Gil Aceytuno “it is what I have been doing many years.” In his solo debut he will present two collaborations, the voice of Bethlehem A. Doreste In this advance single and that of his admired Fajardoone of the clear references for lawsuit, who sings a few stanzas on another of the album themes.
The artist does not assume traditional Canarian music as an influence, but as a guide on which to draw her songs. “I started imagining things on the arpegios of the saxo, the first thing was the voice, whose contrast I liked because I like to write lyrics. Then came the percussion, very minimalist, and for that I took advantage of the Canarian heritage. My mother had a blacksmith drum at home and a colleague taught me to play the gaps; I thought it was perfect for what I was looking for. The blacksmith drum Lapas el Charles. ”
“It is being a very nice trip,” The saxophonist assures, for whom the support of Malpaís Records “It has been something incredible, which starts from absolute trust. You make music yourself, without the opinion of someone living the project from within, and having absolute confidence from the seal motivates a lot.”
His intention is now “Touch as much as possible and to fulfill the dream of making a leap to the national scene”. To do this, it already has several dates in the calendar with which to roll the album: the October 25 at the Keroxen Festival (Tenerife), the November 7 at the Recomer (Lanzarote) and 15 November in the Site room (Gran Canaria).
Breathe and let yourself take, we leave you with the new Lawsuit, AulagadelPolvorín
