A KNEECAP member, denounced for terrorism

Mo Chara, one of the three members of the Irish Hip-Hop Group Kneecap, has been accused of a crime related to terrorism after allegedly exhibiting a Hezbollah flag, the Lebanese paramilitary group, during a concert. The artist must appear before the courts on Wednesday, June 18.

The event occurred last November, in a concert hall in London, but the Metropolitan Police has recently discovered a video of the incident and has decided to charge the 27 -year -old rapper, whose real name is Liam Iog or Hannaidh.

Mo Chara is accused not only of showing a flag of Hezbollah, but also of shouting slogans in support of Hezbollah and Hamas. Kneecap has denied the accusations and has assured that the video in question “has been taken out of context.”

In the United Kingdom, expressing public support for Hamas and Hezbollah – considerained terrorists by numerous countries and international organizations – is illegal.

Kneecap has expressed that the group “does not support any kind of violence” and has denounced that the accusation responds to a political maneuver of the British government: “14,000 babies are about to die of starvation in Gaza and, again, the British system focuses on us.”
