Eric Clapton was performing last night in Madrid, in front of 15,000 people at the Movistar Arena. However, the spectacle seen in other countries could not be completed. As El País reports, someone threw a vinyl onto the stage after the 13th song, ‘Cocaine’, when the artist was heading towards the dressing room. It hit him squarely.
Carlos Marcos has found out that it was an Argentine fan who attached a loving note to the album. His chronicle says: «The impact of the projectile should not have been strong. Clapton stopped for a few seconds and continued towards the stairs. But he was no longer in the mood. He was seen for a few seconds in a side hallway, his musicians waiting. Then he shook his hand indicating that they were leaving.
The song that was left in the pipeline, as we saw at Setlist.FM, attending the Prague concert, was a version of ‘Before You Accuse Me’. It’s usually the encore. In his chronicle, Marcos recounts “a good concert, calm, with a blues performance and hardly any concessions,” describing a “sober staging” as usual and “without concessions to the paraphernalia.”
On Sunday the city of Barcelona awaits Eric Clapton. We leave you with a video shared by the Movistar Arena that does NOT belong to the moment of discord.
