New Rolling Stones album: listen to 2 singles

The new album by The Rolling Stones already has a title and date: ‘Foreign Tongues’ can be heard from July 10. The successor to ‘Hackney Diamonds’ (2023) will be made up of 14 cuts, but so far only the first two have been revealed.

‘Rough and Twisted’ and ‘In the Stars’, tracks 1 and 2 of ‘Foreign Tongues’, are now available on streaming platforms. Both are full of saturated guitars and echoes of blues and classic rock; The first includes a harmonica solo, although the second promises to engage the public more with its happy choir arrangement.

The album, recorded in less than a month at Metropolis studios in west London, includes notable collaborations from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steve Winwood, as well as a special appearance by Charlie Watts recording one of his last musical interventions before passing away in 2021.

Andrew Watt repeats as producer of The Rolling Stones’ new album and, in addition, this year he has also worked on Paul McCartney’s next album, whose release is scheduled for the end of the month. Watt, by the way, is only 35 years old and has also collaborated with Pearl Jam, Elton John and Lady Gaga.
