Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica) announces his recovery from cancer

Jason Newstedwho was bassist of Metallica For a few years, he has publicly announced that he has recovered from throat cancer for which he had surgery last year.

It has been through participation in a podcast called Let There Be Talk when bassist Jason Newsted, known for being a member of Flotsam & Jetsam, leader of the Newsted project and especially for being part of Metallica for a few years. The musician has publicly announced that he has successfully recovered from a throat cancer operation he underwent last year.

In his own words, right now there is nothing left of the cancer after an operation to remove a cancerous tumor a year ago. This was the first time that Newsted has spoken about the illness, which he had kept private until he knew he was fully recovered. Subsequently, the musician has appeared in other media talking about the issue and confessing that he was given the news of his recovery approximately a month ago.

Newsted was Metallica’s bassist, from the metal band Flotsam & Jetsam, during the period between 1986 – after the death of Cliff Burton – until he finally left the group in 2001.
