Seun Kuti has announced the release of a new single, “Na Dem”, in which he collaborates with his band Egypt80 and with Tom Morelloguitarist of Rage Against the Machine.
The song will be released on June 3 on all digital platforms and Seun Kuti describes it like this: “It is a cry for awakening. It is pure Afrobeat, but with a soul that burns with revolutionary rage. We can no longer allow ourselves to be tamed while the system suffocates us. “Na Dem” exposes the hypocrisy of the ruling class that plays chess with our lives.”
About his collaboration with Tom Morellothe Nigerian artist explains that he was looking forward to carrying it out “because, since his days with Rage Against the Machinehas used music as a weapon against injustice, just like my father, Fela Kutiand I have done it with ours. It represents the maximum expression of protest music. Beyond any musical genre, we need artists like him. Like my father in the past and me now, we need to convey thought-provoking messages.”
Besides, Seun Kuti and Egypt80 will make a tour of Spain with three dates: May 7 at Razzmatazz (Barcelona)he May 8 at WOMAD Cáceres and the May 9 at the Canteras Festival in Granada.
