A worker dies setting up Shakira’s stage in Copacabana

The assembly of Shakira’s stage for her concert in Copacabana, which will take place this Saturday, has been the subject of tragedy after a worker died following the impact of a structure that “collapsed.” This has been reported by official sources from the Rio de Janeiro police.

The victim was a 28-year-old security technician who, according to the testimony of other employees, suffered “the crushing of his lower extremities in a lifting system.” He received first aid from rescue teams and was taken to the hospital, but he did not make it in time. A police investigation has been opened to clarify the facts.

The stage had begun to be set up a few days before on Copacabana beach, where more than two million people are expected to gather this weekend, as already happened at the Lady Gaga and Madonna concerts.
