The theatrical release of ‘Michael’, the biopic of Michael Jackson that deals with his rise to fame, is being a success. In the United States it has raised $97 million in its first days, which is a record as a musical biopic. ‘Straight Outta Compton’ debuted with $60 million and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ debuted with $51 million.
Globally, according to The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard, it has been 217.4 million dollars. In Spain it would also have been ranked number 1 in the ranking according to the first leaked data.
Of course, now the film must reach the $910 million that the biopic about Freddie Mercury raised globally.
The success of the biopic, despite the bad reviews, has meant that Michael Jackson’s catalog increases on streaming platforms. For example, ‘Billie Jean’ has stood out on Spotify Global, reaching the world top 10 for the first time (number 9). As a curiosity, themes that do not appear in the film (which does not reach the 90s) are triumphing. And yet, the Jackson 5 songs that do appear in the film do not reach the top 200.
The songs on Spotify Global as of Saturday, April 25 are the following:
9.-Billie Jean
28.-Beat It
109.-Smooth Criminal
112.-They Don’t Care About Us
114.-Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough
154.-Rock With You
161.-The Way You Make Me Feel
With these data, it seems certain that the second part of the film will be made, which is very necessary, since the story of the film leaves too many questions about the artist unaddressed.
