Gara Durán continues to reveal the songs that will be part of her debut album, which she herself told us would be released this year. ‘My crazy cowboy’ showed the funniest and most relaxed side of the artist. ‘Placer de Vivir’, his new collaboration with Natalia Lacunza, follows the same line. It is a hymn to youth and also the Song of the Day.
The instrumentation of ‘Placer de Vivir’ is minimalist and dreamlike, reminiscent of some songs from the ‘ALKIMIA’ EP, such as ‘Kryptonite’. However, while those themes were approached from a background of darkness, ‘Placer de Vivir’ could not be brighter, from the lyrics to the irresistible melody. The theme is a simple pleasure, like the best parts of life.
Gara sings about walking down the street “at a steady pace” on a day when you feel like a goddess: “I look at myself in the reflection of the shop window / It shows, I slept well, today I’m radiant,” the artist intones, finishing the phrases with a delicious vocal riff. For her part, Natalia Lacunza claims the pleasure of “feeling young” while breaking platforms “wearing a sweaty tattoo and a miniskirt.”
The song ends on a high note, with a final crescendo that feels like that “uncontrollable force” they mention in the chorus. “Today everything begins again, it’s the pleasure of living / I have a summer inside here that just wants to come out,” both artists sing, intertwining their voices in a beautiful way.
