Timber Timbre, one of the cult groups of the Canadian indie scene of the 2010s, in its most gothic and cinematic side, thanks to good albums like ‘Hot Dreams’ (2014), loses its creator and main member. Taylor Kirk has died suddenly at the age of 44, according to Exclaim. His death actually occurred on April 14, according to the official statement.
Timber Timbre began with home recordings in a cabin in Ontario and grew to gain international recognition. After two independent albums, their 2009 self-titled album caught the attention of the specialized press and was re-released by Arts & Crafts, eventually being nominated for the Polaris Music Prize.
His music has been featured in popular series and films such as ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Orange is the New Black’, ‘Russian Doll’ or the Netflix documentary ‘Wild Wild Country’, and other albums such as ‘Creep on Creepin’ On’ (2011) also achieved notable nominations in Canadian awards.
The band has remained active over the last decade with releases such as ‘Sincerely, Future Pollution’ (2017), the ‘Dissociation Tapes’ EP (2021) and their most recent work, ‘Lovage’ (2023). We leave you with some of his most popular songs and his Tiny Desk from 2014.
