The death of Greg Foremanmember of blues punk band The Delta 72 and collaborator of various artists. The cause of his death has not been released.
Matador Records, the record label in which Cat Power plays, has announced the news of the death of Gregg Foreman –in the photograph, second from the left–, who was the singer, guitarist and leader of the blues punk band The Delta 72, a group that became known in the alternative scene of the nineties through their incendiary live shows and albums published on Touch & Go as “The R&B Of Membership”, “The Soul Of A New Machine”, “Sorega Doushita” or “Ooo”all of them samples of his mix of genres in the vein of a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion through the Touch & Go sound, that is, a combination of blues, punk, post-hardcore, r&B and soul played with grit and energy.
Foreman has passed away at the age of fifty-three. After The Delta 72, he was part of The Dirty Delta Blues Bandthe backing band of Cat Powerin addition to collaborating or playing with artists such as Pink Mountaintops, Alan Vega, Gossip, Lydia Lunch, Death Valley Girls, Lucinda Williams or Linda Perryamong others.
Artists like Jim Jarmusch, Kid Congo Powers and Cold Cave have said goodbye to Foreman on social media, reverence for his career and friendship.
