Tokischa and Kase.O surrender to lust in the most unlikely collaboration on the Dominican artist’s album. Both artists come together on a classic rap song that is a whirlwind of sensory desire, from the smell of panties to “Baileys-flavored tits.” Surprisingly, it works very well.
The rapper from Zaragoza is one of the few collaborations on ‘AMOR & DROGA’, along with Skrillex, Diplo and Bulin 47. As the album’s title indicates, ‘MONO’ addresses one of the main themes of the EP. In fact, the mixture of the two: it is love turned into a drug. Stylistically, Tokischa takes the opportunity to get out of her comfort zone and rap over a very jazzy, almost trip hop beat, which she also produced herself. Kase.O, however, is in its element.
Tokischa begins rapping about how horny she is and, above all, how she wants to take the other person to bed. She is his “bitch”, his “vicious”, his “Lassie”. When describing what he is, Tokischa drops one of the song’s most memorable lines, for better or worse: “You my dictator Hitler, I’m a Nazi.”
The artist told Rolling Stone that she thought of Javier Ibarra for the collaboration because “I used to listen to him a lot when I was a teenager”: “Everything he raps is very personal, and he’s a Pisces too. I felt connected to his music. I know that people who are fans of hip hop in Spanish are going to love the song because he is an icon,” he explained.
Indeed, Kase.O keeps the bar high on his verse. This one tends to suffer from a flow that is too ‘old school’, but in ‘MONO’ there is no buts that matter. Ibarra, based on references and wit, shows that he is truly hooked: “Pure uncut drug like K shit / Your pussy is my drug like Yung Beef.” However, Ibarra’s experience shines in the mid-verse tongue twister. Pure sensuality: “My tongue licked yours, yours licked mine / Mine licked yours, yours licked mine, which licked itself.”
Tokischa has announced two concerts in Spain this summer. The first will take place on June 30 at La Riviera in Madrid, while on July 1 it will perform at Razzmatazz in Barcelona. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, April 23, at 11 a.m.
