U2 reflect on friendship and loss on “Easter Lily EP”

U2 have launched this Easter “Easter Lily”a new EP of six songs in which they reflect on friendship and loss, which arrives after “Days Of Ash EP”.

While the Irish band continues recording their new studio album, on April 3, Good Friday, the quartet released the EP “Easter Lily“This work comes as a second independent and autonomous collection of new songs that is released before the next album, and follows the EP.”Days of Ash”, published on Ash Wednesday.

Easter Lily” is a much more reflective set of songs that comes from an intimate place that some may retreat to in times like these, and explores themes such as friendship, loss, hope and renewal.

On a note to fans, Bond comments: “We are still in the studio, working on a hard-hitting, messy, “squeaky-colored” album to play LIVE… which is where U2 feel at home. We continue to see rock and roll most vividly as an act of resistance against all the atrocities we see on our small screens. Without a doubt, these are “years of madness” for many of us as we contemplate the prevailing violence. It is a time in which, as a band, we are deepening our lives to find the source of songs with which to try to live up to the moment… With Easter Lily we ended up asking ourselves very personal questions (…) The album “Easter” by Patti Smith gave me so much hope when it was released in 1978. I wasn’t even 18 yet. The title of the EP is a nod to her. We’ll try to make noise and fuss later to remind the rest of the world that we exist, but in the meantime… this is between you and us.”

The six songs that make up “Easter Lily EP” are: “Song for Hal”, “In a Life”, “Scars”, “Resurrection Song”, “Easter Parade” and “COEXIST (I Will Bless The Lord At All Times?)”.
