Lizzo says she didn’t have sex until she was 32

Lizzo has revealed in an interview that she did not have sexual relations with anyone until she was 32 years old and won her first Grammy. That is, in 2020, at the height of her career, Lizzo says that “she lost her virginity.” The artist made these statements on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky.

During the talk, the author of ‘Truth Hurts’ acknowledges that she lied in interviews when she talked about her active sexual life, and that she also lied to her friends when they asked her “if she was a virgin” and she denied it and stated: “I love the D”, an English expression that can be literally translated as “I love the penis.” Lizzo says this lie kept her calm for a while.

The artist assures that, apart from her personal pact, her religious upbringing influenced her, since together with her teenage friends they had agreed not to have sexual relations “until after marriage”, although she also suggests a personal reason, since during her youth she came to feel that “no one wanted to kiss her.”

Lizzo describes herself as a “late bloomer” and also reveals that the first time she kissed a boy was when she was 21, although she indicates that it was a forced kiss, during a party.

Lizzo, who has just released the single ‘Don’t Make Me Love U’, has been dating comedian, musician and designer Myke Wright since 2022, whom she considers her “life partner.”

Lizzo joins the recent statements by public figures that contribute to normalizing sexual experiences outside the norm. Recently, Keke Palmer declared that she is sure she is asexual: “I’m not interested in anyone, although I would like to.”
