Erasure’s Vince Clark doesn’t want to do any more concerts

Touring is no longer in Erasure’s plans. The duo of Vince Clarke and Andy Bell did a short UK tour last year, their first performances together in four years. Now, Clarke has said that he simply “don’t want to do it anymore.”

During an interview with The New Cue, Clarke was asked about “the bravest decision” he had made during his career, to which he replied: “Stop touring.” The answer is understood by the great importance of income derived from live performances for most artists.

Clarke also recalled the shows he did last year, describing them as “great”: “It’s hard to explain… The simple answer would be that I don’t want to be old and be walking out on stage.” He clarifies that it is not the part he enjoys the most about the process either: “The best thing about making music is the process of making music, instead of listening to it afterwards.” He ends the interview by assuring that he “never” listens to past works “unless I have to because we have to play live.” It will no longer be the case.
