The great anti-fascist protest in London: Jessie Ware, Hot Chip…

Jessie Ware, Katy B, Billy Bragg and Hot Chip, among many other artists, were part of the massive anti-fascist protest that took place last Saturday in London. The organization of the demonstration, Together Alliance, has declared that it would be “the largest demonstration in the history of the country against the extreme right”, although the police data are not so extensive.

Central London was filled with protesters this past Saturday, while musical acts gathered in Trafalgar Square throughout the day. Among these, Jessie Ware or Hot Chip, who put on the show ‘House Against Hate’. Others such as UB40, Self Esteem, Shygirl, Katy B and Joy Crookes also offered their music during the protests.

Veteran Billy Bragg was one of the first artists to take the stage, writing on Instagram that he felt “very inspired” during the event: “The concerns people have about the cost of living, the growing distance between the rich and the poor, overwhelmed public health, the lack of affordable housing and the effects of the climate crisis cannot be resolved by rounding up people of color and forcing them to return to their country,” he wrote on Instagram.
