The Beach Boys have announced the launch of new audiophile editions of “Pet Sounds” on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary.
These reissues of the album The Beach Boys They seek to offer a high-quality sound experience for fans of the group and vinyl lovers. The audiophile editions of the legendary album will include alternate takes, a cappella tracks and previously unreleased studio recordings.
Originally released on May 16, 1966, the album “Pet Sounds” It has established itself over time as one of the most influential works in pop history, as well as a cult album for fans. This new edition will include unusual material, such as alternate takes, a cappella versions and recording sessions.
To commemorate its imminent 60th anniversary, “Pet Sounds” will be celebrated with a series of releases on May 15 via Capitol/UMe, including two all-analog premium audiophile editions.
Among them stands out the Vinylphile Editionwhich features the original album in both mono and stereo, as well as the Definitive Sound Series Audiophile Edition. In addition, a special edition on Zoetrope vinyl designed for collectors will also go on sale. will also be released “The Pet Sounds Sessions Highlights”a compilation of highlights from the 1997 box set “The Pet Sounds Sessions”which documented the original 1965-66 recording sessions, and will include alternate takes, a cappella versions, and studio recordings.
Each format will have new back cover notes by the historian of the The Beach Boys Howie Edelson, plus a complete discography session. At this time, the complete 90-track box set will not be available for download or streaming.
