The guard at Chappell Roan’s hotel was supervising Sabrina Carpenter

Chappell Roan has been at the center of an absurd controversy this week after being accused of having treated badly a girl who was a fan of the artist. The girl turned out to be Ada Law, daughter of Jude Law and stepdaughter of soccer player Jorginho, who took to Instagram to call out Roan for his alleged poor treatment of his fans during his stay in a hotel in Brazil. The memes representing Roan’s supposed hatred of children have not stopped happening.

Jorginho went to Instagram very angry, to accuse Roan of having sent his bodyguard to intimidate the girl and her mother so that they would not approach her while she was having breakfast on the hotel terrace.

Roan shared his version of the events shortly after, denying that the bodyguard who had acted was part of his team, even pointing out that he was never a witness to what happened. The mother of the affected girl, Catherine Harding, Jude Law’s ex-partner, questioned his statement, clarifying that the bodyguard was not hired by the hotel either.

Finally, the bodyguard has spoken. Pascal Duvier, 53, has confirmed that he was at the hotel supervising another artist, and Daily Mail has corroborated that Duvier is a bodyguard for Sabrina Carpenter, who, like Roan, has just performed at Lollapalooza Brazil.

“I take full responsibility for what happened on March 21,” Duvier wrote, confirming that he is not part of Chappell Roan’s team and that the actions he took were not in his name or that of his team. He points out that he acted “based on information provided by the hotel, on situations that he had witnessed inside the hotel in previous days and on the high security risk of the place where we were staying.”

However, Duvier denies that he acted in an aggressive or intimidating manner towards the girl and her mother: “My only interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and what happened after this encounter is regrettable.” Duvier claims that the accusations being leveled against him “constitute defamation.”
