Chappell Roan responds to the controversy with Jorginho: “I don’t hate my fans”

Chappell Roan is once again in the eye of the media storm. This time, after his security team allegedly made Jorginho’s stepdaughter, a Brazilian soccer player, cry. The incident took place at the hotel of both public figures, on the eve of Lollapalooza: “Without your fans, you would be nothing,” the footballer wrote on Instagram.

The same morning of the day that Chappell Roan was going to perform at Lollapalooza, chance wanted him to coincide at breakfast with Jorginho’s wife and stepdaughter, also the biological daughter of Jude Law. The footballer has recounted the events from his Instagram account, but says that he was not in São Paulo: «During breakfast, the artist passed by his table. “My daughter, like any girl, recognized her, was excited and wanted to check if it was really her.”

At the beginning of the post, Jorginho says that the girl had prepared a poster for Chappell’s concert at the festival: «The worst thing is that she didn’t even come close. He simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and sat back down with his mother. “He didn’t say anything, nor did he ask for anything,” says the footballer. “Honestly, I don’t know when walking by someone’s table and looking to see if anyone is there can be considered harassment,” she wrote.

He describes the situation that took place as “disproportionate,” saying that a “huge security guard” went to the table where his wife and stepdaughter were and began speaking to them “in an extremely aggressive manner, saying that my wife should not let my daughter disrespect or harass other people.”

“He even said he would file a formal complaint with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there crying. “She was extremely agitated and cried a lot,” the footballer said. Next, she gives her opinion on the matter as a public figure, ensuring that she has lived under this condition for many years and that she understands very well “what respect and limits are”: “What happened there had nothing to do with that, she was just a girl admiring someone,” she points out.

While Jorginho has hoped in his Stories that this serves “as a moment of reflection”, the networks have exploded against Chappell Roan, with the artist being criticized from all sides: “For the fans, she does not deserve your affection,” the footballer concludes. Even the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavalcanti, has echoed the controversy, forever banning Chappell from performing at the city’s annual ‘Todo Mundo no Rio’ festival.

Some unofficial X accounts claimed that Chappell Roan had responded to the controversy in his Stories and had immediately deleted it. Although the veracity of the message has not been confirmed or denied, the singer had supposedly alleged this: “I deserve my space, especially during breakfast. “I don’t play with my breakfast.” Of course, now X is also full of memes of Chappell Roan fighting over scrambled eggs.

Chappell Roan’s real response occurred a few hours later, with the artist speaking to the camera directly on her Instagram Stories: “I’m going to tell my part of what happened today.” The first thing Roan makes clear is that the security guard involved is not part of his personal team and that he had not even “seen” Jorginho’s wife or daughter. He also confirms the footballer’s version: «No one approached me. Nobody was bothering me. “I didn’t ask security to go talk to them.”

“It is unfair for security to assume that someone does not have good intentions, because there is no reason to even believe it,” the artist continues. Before apologizing personally to the mother and daughter, Chappell has made it clear that he does not hate “the fans of my music” or “the children”: “It makes me really sad to think that it was uncomfortable for you, you didn’t deserve that,” Roan ends the message.
