Zach Bryan has caught the attention of the White House with one of his latest snippets, which directly criticizes the massive raids carried out by ICE and the Trump administration. However, in a later statement he assures that it is necessary to listen to the full context of the song, since he does not consider himself to be either left-wing or right-wing: “I am not on any of these radical sides.”
“I heard the cops coming / sons of bitches and believers,” Bryan sings in the fragment uploaded to Instagram. In the rest of the clip, he mentions ICE “breaking down doors” and children “scared and alone.”
As already happened with Jack White, this has caught the attention of the White House, with spokesperson Abigail Jackson ensuring that “the majority of Americans do not agree with him and support President Trump.” Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of public affairs, has said that Bryan should “stick to ‘Pink Skies,’ one of his best-known songs.
Zach Bryan soon returned to Instagram to clarify that “this song is about how much I love my country and everyone in it.” He also reveals that by listening to the full song “you will understand the full context, which goes against both sides.”
In a second publication, Bryan claims to be “proud to have served a country in which we can all speak freely and converse with each other.” It seems that Zach Bryan has not found out what happened to Jimmy Kimmel or Stephen Colbert.
