Taylor Swift fans have prompted Zach Bryan to delete his X (formerly Twitter) account, marking the second week in a row that the country singer has left the platform.
Zach Bryan, currently sitting at No. 22 on the Hot 100 with “Pink Skies,” isn’t being very social media savvy. The first tweet that got him deactivated was a personal opinion that didn’t include a single person: “Anyone who puts politics over music doesn’t understand what listening to music is all about,” he commented. When he returned, he included the artist with the industry’s fiercest fans.
Perhaps because Taylor prevented him from reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 or perhaps because he felt like it, Bryan tweeted, “Eagles > Chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who’s with me?” The Chiefs mention is due to the team Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce plays for, while the Kanye thing needs no explanation.
It wasn’t long before Swifties were on the attack. “Literally anyone > Zach Bryan,” read one reply. Bryan tried to remedy the mess by talking about his love for Taylor and “the beautiful moment in music” we’re living in and even admitting that he wrote the tweet “drunk,” but it was too late. Shortly after, Zach Bryan deactivated his account again.
However, on his Instagram account he continued to give explanations: “I’ve been going through a rough time and I think I was projecting a little. To be totally honest, it came off as rude and insensitive to Taylor,” he posted on his Stories.
