Alcalá Norte has won the noise prize awarded by the specialized press (PAM, associated music journalists) for its debut album, the best 2024 national album for numerous publications, including Jenesaispop (the debut of Alcalá Norte appears in ninth place in Jenesaispop’s 2024 Yearbook and is the only Spanish within the Top 10).
There is little doubt why Alcalá Norte has taken the award in the tenth edition of the noise prize: ‘Alcalá Norte’ has taught where the bar is when it comes to making a disc full of songs in which each song is memorable and unique Like Alcalá Norte, they have boasted to copy others to write their album, now it’s time to copy them.
And, although in the strictly commercial field the album has not sold as many copies as those of Bad Gyal or Judeline -two albums that, in addition, have enjoyed international attention -, it has achieved, in its own way through an independent seal, appear on the Spanish album list thanks to the excellent critical reception of the album, to the network debate, to the good reputation of the group’s live and the launch of an absolutely iconic song, ‘Life Canyon ‘, which the band has presented live on its night of glory.
But, above all, Alcalá Norte have won the noise award thanks to a huge post-pitch album that does not tire of spinning a charismatic song after another, in which clues like ‘Elfao Street’ or ‘The Poor’s Blood ‘They compete with’ La Life Great favorites of the audience.
Alcalá Norte, in their thanks speech, recalled that many did not believe in them from the beginning, but that they are now in the position of collecting the deserved fruits of their work. “We are very happy for this victory against prognosis,” said drummer Jaime Barbosa. ‘Alcalá Norte’ joins a list of winners of the noise prize that includes ‘Salve Discord’ of Bizarro Love Triangle, ‘The Badwinning’ of Rosalía or ‘Ultrabelleza’ by María José Llergo.
Ángeles Toledano, Biznaga, Sword Master, Widow or Viva Belgrade, nominated for the Noise Award, attended the ceremony held in Room B of Madrid, and the invited ceremony such as Love of Lesbian or Grande Amore was not lost. Nacho Álvaro has presented a gala through which illustrious journalists such as Julio Ruiz, Fernando Navarro or Javier Herrero also passed.
