Why SOMMA is bringing deep-house to the masses

SOMMA is one of the great “secrets” of current house music. Without appearing repeatedly in trend magazines or being the most followed DJ on social networks, he has more than a million listeners on Spotify and the numbers of his songs on this platform are breathtaking. To give you an idea, several of these songs are close to or exceed thirty million plays. One, ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’, exceeds sixty million. And the rest do not go below ten or twenty million.

That’s the case with ‘Body on Fire’, ‘Harder We Fall’, ‘Troubles’, ‘Howling’, ‘I Can’t Sleep’, ‘Fever’… SOMMA’s hit list is astonishing. Their success is easy to understand: their deep-house productions are effective and accessible, not at all corny or twisted. Evoking sunsets, they still contain irresistible grooves. And the vocalists who join SOMMA’s productions, such as Dillistone or Fast Boy, know how to bring just the right dose of warmth and soul to the recordings.

SOMMA is the alias of Berlin-based Danish DJ and producer Morten Aamodt. Raised in China, he is also an actor. However, Aamodt is fully dedicated to music and is a member of the LE YORA collective alongside JEWELS and YUMA. This Saturday, July 27th, SOMMA will be offering a session at La (1) de Razzmatazz starting at 1 am, with DJ2D2 also present on the bill. There is no doubt that on the night from Saturday to Sunday, magic will fill the atmosphere thanks to SOMMA’s rhythms and his emotional vision of dance music.
