Why Monkey Week leaves Sevilla to return to El Puerto

After 10 years celebrating in Seville, the Monkey Week festival returns in its 17th edition to the place that saw it born: the port of Santa María. Thus, one of the most important indie meetings in the country will be held again in Cádiz from November 19 to 22.

The meeting will maintain a 100% urban format and will focus on continuing to be a showcase for the new talents of independent music. The first confirmations of the festival will arrive after the celebration of the Monkey Weekend Son Estrella Galicia, next Tuesday, June 17.

From the organization they explain to us the causes of leaving from Seville, something that they describe as “a confluence of factors”: “Feeling more and farther from the city, when the monkey is a 100% urban festival. For example, last year they did not give the declaration of cultural interest to the event, something that we had in all the previous editions and that guaranteed to be able to carry out the festival in public spaces and in rooms in optimal conditions for it ». They also add “unexpected schedules last year, when in reality they were agreed with the City Council since months before, or that they tell us that from this year we could not use the Santa Clara space as the headquarters of the professional days.”

The Monkey Weekend will be held from June 13 to 15, also in the port of Santa María, and has liquid love, Carlagas, Metrika, Parksvr, Roy Borland or collective da Silva in its poster, among many others. Also, Monkey Week also opens its traditional call of Showcases. Those interested can register until Tuesday, July 1.
