The veteran and legendary British speaker system specialist Wharfedale has just launched a new model integrated into its award-winning Diamond 12 Series: the Diamond 12 3Da compact and stylized speaker intended for music lovers. Movie at home who want to expand the horizons of their team with the incorporation of multi-dimensional or 3D surround sound. Like the rest of the models in the range to which it belongs, the new Wharfedale, which uses a 2-way/2-speaker configuration with a sealed enclosure and is designed to be placed in the upper area of the Diamond 12.1 and Diamond 12.3 models, on a table or against a wall, mounts one of the celebrated Klarity polypropylene and mica cones in its “midwoofer”.
Let us point out that the use of mica increases robustness and reduces flexing, thus allowing to obtain a light, rigid cone with a very low coloration that is capable of offering equal parts precision and dynamics. The use of a generous and advanced magnetic motor Equipped with a compensation ring to minimize the effect of inductance variations due to displacement of the voice coil. For its part, the voice coil is mounted on an epoxy/fiberglass support, an absolutely unusual solution in a speaker of the price of the Diamond 12 3D, and which has the advantage of not adding turbulent currents, providing in parallel a power handling capacity superior to that of an aluminum reel, and is also much lighter than a Kapton reel.
As far as the upper zone of the spectrum is concerned, its reproduction is entrusted to a made dome made from interwoven polyester fibers, completed by a low-loss coating that ensures obtaining open and soft treble extended. To this must be added a magnetic motor and a front plate optimized for maximize dispersion and minimize compression dynamic. Another fundamental element of the new Wharfedale is its acoustic enclosure, of an airtight type and equipped with panels made of wood fiber plates of different thicknesses, constructed in such a way as to attenuate its sound “signature” and not interfere with the operation of the the transducers.
